Iran urges WHO to condemn Israeli and US attacks on hospitals

Iran’s UN envoy in Geneva called on the WHO to condemn Israeli and US military attacks that damaged hospitals and killed civilians.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Iranian diplomat has called on the World Health Organization (WHO) to condemn what he described as the “illegal and unjustifiable” military aggression by Israel and the United States against Iran.

Ali Bahreini, Iran’s permanent representative to the UN Office in Geneva, made the remarks in a letter to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday.

Bahreini urged the WHO to take firm action and hold the aggressors accountable for their violations against Iranian territory.

He stated that Israeli attacks damaged seven hospitals and medical centers, resulting in the deaths of 627 people, including four medical staff and four rescue workers, and injuring 4,935 others.

The Israeli regime launched a full-scale assault on June 13, targeting Iran’s military and nuclear sites, and killing top commanders, scientists, and civilians.

In response, Iran’s armed forces launched precision strikes using next-generation missiles against Israeli military and industrial infrastructure.

After 12 days of conflict, Israel declared a unilateral ceasefire, reportedly under pressure from Washington to avoid further Iranian retaliation.

Bahreini also warned that the Israeli-American attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities could have catastrophic consequences for both Iran and the region.

He emphasized that such actions violate the WHO’s statutes and resolutions.

In earlier letters, Iran’s Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi also urged the WHO and United Nations to condemn Israeli attacks, especially those targeting hospitals and medical personnel.
